Mount Rushmore

For our family vacation this year we went to South Dakotas Black hills and saw Mount Rushmore. We had a great time and would highly recommend taking the family!! We camped at a KOA about 10 minutes from Mt. Rushmore. My parents and my niece Aubri came with us. We went on an 1880 steam engine train ride. The weather was rainy and a little chilly but we made the most of it and had fun. On July 3 we went to the monument about 9 in the morning. We were told they had the BEST firworks show and we had to get there early. We thought 9 was early, but all the best spots were already staked out so we got the closest spot we could find and sat. The kids were able to do a Jr. ranger project that kept them busy off and on throughout the day, we watched the entertainment from the big screens, and walked around ALOT!. But that evening they were not lying, it was the BEST fireworks show ever. I would put all the pictures on the blog for you but we some how lost them on the memory card and only have video. So we would be happy to have any of you come visit so we can show you our video. Luckily my parents took pictures so we do have some. The kids learned alot about our presidents as did Jeremy and I. There is lots more to do there so we are planning on going again (also to get more pictures). If any of you plan to go let us know, we would love to go again!

Jered's 5th bday

Well Jered is now 5. If you ask him if he is 5 years old he will tell you "No, I am 5!" We haven't figured out the difference yet, but to him there is a difference. We had a pool party for him with a few of his friends. He got a new bike that does not have training wheels and is big like Gabbi's. He loves it and wants to go on a bike ride everyday. He has had his doctor visit and eye appointment for school so now all he needs is shots. Those are next week, but we aren't telling him until the day of. Then I am sure he will ask if he will go to Kindergarten the next day. He is doing GREAT and is ready for school. I am not ready for them to start school. After Jereds's party we left for Denver for the weekend. We met Jeremy's parents and one of his brothers. We had a great visit and went to the zoo. When we drove in the driveway at home he said "can I ride my bike now?".
