Halloween is coming

Today we went downtown and went trick or treating to the little shops. We met some of ours friends and had a blast. The kids loved it and said they love halloween. If I had told them that was halloween they would of been happy with that. The weather was great, 70's, which is funny because we had snow this week and 20 degree nights. Long FUN weekend

We had a great long weekend. The kids had friday off from school and this was Jeremys weekend off also so we tried to make the most of the weekend. First we started out playing in the leaves in the back yard. Funny thing is the leaves are not even from our yard, but thats the way the wind blows...

Friday night we went to the high school football game with the kids (Matti stayed with a babysitter). This game was a "pink out" game to raise money for the fight against breast cancer. They sold pink tshirts before the game that said North Platte Bulldogs and had a pink ribbon on them also. We had pink ribbons for the boys to wear and Gabbi had a pink sweatshirt and pink bow in her hair. We bought pink balloons from the booster club and wrote Tracy and my grandma's names on them for those that had been affected by breast cancer. Then on the first touch down by the bulldogs everyone let their balloons go. It was pretty neat. All the football players and band members had pink ribbons on their uniforms. They had great community support. That is one reason I like living in a small community (not that I don't still want to go back to Utah). Here are the pictures from that......

Saturday morning I signed Jeremy and I up to run a 5K. I was ready Jeremy was not. We both did finish, sore, but we finished. This was Jeremy's first and he did GREAT I was very proud of him. He did say he would do it again but next time work out before the day of....

Then after the run we ran home(drove real fast), showered, got ready, made sack lunches, filled up on gas and headed to Amherst for the pumpkin patch. We had a great time. Our friends the Davis' went with us which made the kids very happy. We spent about 2 1/2 hours there walking around and having fun. Funny thing about the pumpkin patch... we didn't even go down to the patch because we grew our own pumpkins, so we drove 1 hour and 45 minutes to a pumpkin patch and didn't even buy a pumpkin. We had a great weekend.

New Look

So I was bored one day and thought what fun it would be to paint my front door. Actually our shutters were really faded green and needed a face lift, so after lots of thought we came up with painting them black. With the door being white it looked kinda funny. So after I painted the shutters and put them back up it was time for the door. I taped it all off with Tayler and Matti's help then painted away. The door looks nice Matti's face does not. She climbed up the steps with me then decided to climb down head first. She has just a little road rash on the right side of her face. But the door does look good.

Tomatoes in October

We picked 3 more buckets of tomatoes from our garden yesterday, Oct. 8. I have never had my tomatoe plants last this late in the year. I guess when we didn't start getting tomatoes until the middle of August we are due to still have then now. They sure taste great. We also picked about 5 dozen peppers and 2 PUMPKINS. This is the first year we have grown our pumpkins and we have about 8 more that will be ready shortly. I think I am more excited about the pumpkins than the kids.

Making Bread

I love making bread and Tayler loves eatting flour. Yep, that's right flour.

Jered started martial arts class and today he received his belt. The guy that presented it to him said "the special thing about a white belt is that you have to get that belt to get a black belt". He was so excited, as were we. He just started last week and has learned alot already. Each week if they have paid attention and done well in class they get colored tape to put on their belts showing how good they are doing. Then every couple of weeks they do tests on what they have learned and then they can move up to another belt. So we shall see soon if he is enjoying it.
